A Few Notes From Cheryl

Welcome to all of our new subscribers who recently joined our online community as a result of the workshops and conferences you attended this past month!  Many of you heard me speak this past month on topics such as "Riding the Waves of Change," "Create Your Desired Work-Life Balance," and "How to Set and Achieve Goals That are Truly Meaningful."

Speaking of work-life balance, I am getting ready to leave for a vacation in Puerto Vallarta, so this month's e-zine will be shorter than usual.  Things have been very busy lately, so between all of the speaking engagements and team building workshops this past month, I am READY for some time at the beach!  My bags will soon be packed, and the biggest decision I will be making soon will be which book to read.

Feature Article:  Speaking of reading books, as you'll see below this month's feature article is about the books on your bookshelf.  We've included some reading recommendations for you, so hope you enjoy!

F-r-e-e Teleclass - 6 Steps to Setting & Achieving Your Most Meaningful Goals - with a focus on goals for a Balanced Life:  This is our gift to you, our valued InSights reader.  See details below at Upcoming Workshops and Teleclasses .

Warmest regards,

Feature Article:  What's on Your Bookshelf?

As I've been thinking about vacation, one of the most exciting parts of my preparation has been deciding which books I want to bring with me!  I love to read and these days it seems like the stack of books on my nightstand keeps growing taller.  So, vacation time is exciting because it means I know that I'll get to make a dent in the stack and I'll get to enjoy some leisure reading!

Also, at home we've been cleaning out our bookshelves of old books that we no longer need and will donate to a local library.  We're making space because my partner and I are in the process of adopting a baby and it is definitely going to happen this year.  So, as we're "nesting" and cleaning out items to be donated, we see the opportunity to donate books we no longer need. I've been doing the same thing in my office.

All of this activity around books got me thinking that perhaps you have the same thing happening at your office and home!  So, I'm curious about the following questions and hope that they'll help you take action...

1.  What books are on your bookshelf that you no longer need?
Which books have you been holding onto for years, saying to yourself "I might need that as a reference at some point in the future"?  Do you have some books that are actually so outdated that if you needed them you would need to get updated copies anyway?  If so, take the time now to put them in a box and drive them to your local library!  Make space on your bookshelf for new books that address your current needs.

2.  What books have you been wanting to read but just haven't made the time?
If you like to read and you tend to gather many books for "a rainy day," your bedside nightstand might be getting a little taller each month.  Any professional organizer will tell you that having all those books stacking up is not helpful from a feng shui perspective and it can be a real energy drain every time you look at the stack.  If you like to read and the stack is getting tall, make the time to start reading those books!  I'm recommitting myself to my love for reading, starting with vacation.   My stack will be much shorter when I return!

3.  What new books do you want to read?
There are so many wonderful books out there, it's sometimes hard to know where to start!   Many of our clients ask me for recommendations, especially when they're in the midst of a difficult transition or the "gremlin" voices are preventing them from taking their desired actions.  So, we've made it easy for you to find all of our recommendations now in one place.  If you haven't already checked out our recommended reading list, be sure to visit it (and all of the other f-r-e-e- resources on that same page) at http://www.goalsinsight.com/free/index.html .   We've provided you with some fantastic book suggestions for both business and personal aspects of your life.  Be sure to check back frequently, as we're adding new resources to that page frequently.

So, given this month's topic, what will you commit to - what's next for your cleaning out process and/or your desire to learn through reading?

By what date will you do these things (note:  it's critical to have a specific deadline for each commitment to ensure your success)?

What support and accountability do you need to ensure that you stay committed to these intentions?  Who will you ask to hold you accountable?

Have fun and enjoy the process!  I'll be back in touch after vacation!
